What else would you like to tell our group about yourself?

I love the Italian language, culture, and food. I love discussing these things with others, especially those who share my enthusiasm. I have a pretty good basic knowledge of the language, but want to improve and refine that knowledge. I have very few opportunities for Italian conversation.

How did you learn about PIAZZA ITALIA - The Washington, DC Italian Language & Culture MeetUp group?

First learned from a google search. Yesterday in the shirlington dog park of all places I met two different people who go to your meet ups. It seems very random, but less so once you know I have two Volpino italianos, named Marcello and Gelsomina.

What is your favorite Italian book/author, Italian film, Italian song/musician, Italian food, Italian city?

Book: Il Gattopardo, which I hope one day to read in Italian instead of English translation. Film: La Strada. Food: almost everything. City: Rome, although lately I prefer visiting smaller towns not heavily touristed. My favorite trips have been to Sardegna and Sicily

How long have you been interested in the Italian Language and why; at what level do you speak Italian; are there any other languages you speak or have an interest in?

First class in 1994, followed by private lessons off and on for 2 years. Since then I've taken a few classes off and on. I would say I speak at an intermediate level. I'm not so good with congiuntivo, and my vocabulary is not extensive, but I'm good at basic conversation and get along fine when traveling in Italy. I know a little Greek and Spanish.

Hi, I have gone to Italy about 10 times for vacation and love all things Italian.
