monthly hike at ft. ben

Ft. Ben offers lots of great trails that range from easy to rugged. This park is nice because it's so close to downtown, yet feels so far away from the city!

For this hike, we'll meet at the trail head of the Fall Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by Delaware Lake. This hike will be on the the Fall Creek/Camp Creek loop, which takes about an hour. This trail is moderately rugged as there are stairs and hills. We'll stop for breaks along the way and let any swimmers enjoy Duck Pond.

If it is pouring rain, consider this event to be canceled. Entrance to the park is $5/vehicle. 2013 annual pass for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs. They are only $40 and are good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

Sorry that I missed you guys. Showed up a few minutes late and then joined the wrong group somehow. But we did get a nice walk. Hopefully we will find everyone next time!

Glad you made it out despite missing our group! For our monthly hikes, we typically congregate near the picnic tables on the north end of the parking lot by Delaware Lake (opposite the shelter house). Hope to see you next time!

Fabulous to get out of the house and see some other dogs and their people.

Rambo didn't mind the mud at all. He didn't care for the bath he got when he got home so much tho ;) We didn't find the mud too much of an issue as we anticipated it given the recent weather. We love these walks. We like seeing the friends we've met on past walks return and meeting new folks. Rambo was glad to meet a new friend who is a dachshund like him. He hopes to see Schnitzel again soon.

      We missed you and (big)Cooper.

Cooper was leading the "mud charge" and Winston did great despite the fact the mud weighed more than him! They both loved seeing old friends and meeting new ones! Cannot wait for the next one...I have 2 exhausted dogs today!

It was really muddy in places, but still a fun time!

Completely agree with you Leanne! Gorgeous March day for a trail walk, but wow was that a muddy trail! But Turbo and I had a great time meeting everyone regardless. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again especially as the weather keeps getting better and better!

I liked it despite the muddy section we went through. It didn't bother the dogs either. I'm glad I went!

it was a beautiful morning and very muddy. Most of the dogs didn't mind the mud, but we decided to switch to the paved trail halfway through.

Don't forget to "spring forward" Sunday for daylight savings time. You don't want to be late for our hike at Ft. Ben! Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-50s, but there is a slight chance of rain in the morning. If it is pouring rain, consider the event to be canceled. Otherwise, I'll see you there!

As a reminder, we'll meet at the trail head of the Fall Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by Delaware Lake. This hike will be on the the Fall Creek/Camp Creek loop, which takes about an hour. This trail is moderately rugged as there are stairs and hills. We'll stop for breaks along the way and let any swimmers enjoy Duck Pond.

I encourage you to bring water, doggie bags, and hiking boots. It will likely be muddy from all the snow and rain we've received lately.
