Columbus Day hike at Ft Ben

Ft. Ben offers lots of great trails that range from easy to rugged. This park is nice because it's so close to downtown, yet feels so far away from the city!

For this hike - we'll meet at the trail head of the Schoen Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by the visitor's center. This trail is 3.5 - 4 miles long and moderately rugged as it's also used as a mountain bike trail. Plan on this hike taking 2 hours with breaks.

If it is pouring rain, consider this event to be canceled. Entrance to the park is $5/vehicle. 2013 annual pass for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs is available. They are only $40 and are good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

Trail map is available online.

It was a beautiful day to hike. We only had 3 people and 3 dogs but we enjoyed being out in nature on such a gorgeous day. I hope more people will join us on the Veteran's Day hike next month.
