monthly hike at ft. ben

Ft. Ben offers lots of great trails that range from easy to rugged. This park is nice because it's so close to downtown, yet feels so far away from the city!

For this hike, we'll meet at the trail head of the Fall Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by Delaware Lake. This hike will be on the the Fall Creek/Camp Creek loop, which takes about an hour. This trail is moderately rugged as there are stairs and hills. We'll stop for breaks along the way and let any swimmers enjoy Duck Pond.

If it is pouring rain, consider this event to be canceled. Entrance to the park is $5/vehicle. 2014 annual pass for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs are available. They are only $40 and are good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

Trail map is available online.

Had a great time today! Perfect weather & great time meeting new people while exploring the new trails. I will warn everyone that I found one tick on Janie after we finally got home, but I'm not sure if it was from our apartment complex somewhere or our hike in the park. Either way, IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN! Definitely won't stop us from coming back as often as possible though! See you all next time! :)

We found our first tick almost a month ago on Rambo. He's on preventative. I had hoped this harsh winter had killed them off some but it appears they are back with a vengeance.

Wish we could come! We'll be out of town. I'm sure our fur kids would LOVE Ft. Ben!

If you click above where it says "Fort Harrison State Park", it should tell you the exact address on Google Maps...for next time, type in: Clark Road, Indianapolis, IN 46216...should lead you straight there!

Sorry you could not find the group, we waited 15 minutes past our normal start time. Next time remember this, come in the main gate of the park take the first right. We meet by the picnic tables where the road ends in the large parking lot. Hope to see you next time.

We explored some of the newer trails and covered more ground than usual. It was a beautiful day to be out exploring.

We had wonderful weather again and it was great to meet the new folks and see some people we hadn't seen since last year at a play group we both attended.

I've received several comments from new members about our meeting location being difficult to find. When you are on the event page in meetup, click on the map link that says "Fort Harrison State Park." This link will open up Google Maps. I've updated the map to place a marker on the exact location for where we are meeting, instead of the physical address of the park.

I encourage you to bring enough water for yourself and your dog(s) and doggie bags. You are expected to pick up after your dog. Sturdy tennis shoes or hiking boots would also be good to wear.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
