monthly hike at ft. ben

Ft. Ben offers lots of great trails that range from easy to rugged. This park is nice because it's so close to downtown, yet feels so far away from the city!

For this hike, we'll meet at the trail head of the Fall Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by Delaware Lake. This hike will be on the the Fall Creek/Camp Creek loop, which takes about an hour. This trail is moderately rugged as there are stairs and hills. We'll stop for breaks along the way and let any swimmers enjoy Duck Pond.

If it is pouring rain, consider this event to be canceled. Entrance to the park is $5/vehicle. 2013 annual pass for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs. They are only $40 and are good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

Trail map is available online.

A note about RSVPs as the weather improves:  I'd love for everyone to be able to attend, but have chosen to limit the number of participants to be respectful to other hikers using the trails.  Twenty people and their dogs take up a lot of room! If your plans have changed, please update your RSVP in a timely manner to allow others the opportunity to attend. At this time, the wait list is "automatic" where it automatically moves people up in the order in which they added themselves to the waiting list.

nice to see familiar faces along with a few new ones. everyone seemed to have a good time, despite the threat of rain looming over us.

The rain held off so we had a nice hike. The flowering trees and plants were very pretty especially the Dog Wood trees. We had a nice big group of dogs and folks today. Rambo, my husband and I love these hikes!

I’m looking forward to our May hike at Ft. Ben and wanted to remind you of a few essential details:

    1. I have moved this hike to the first Sunday instead of the second, due to conflicts with Mother’s Day.
    2. We have a waiting list. If your plans have changed, please update your RSVP in a timely manner to allow others the opportunity to attend.
    3. There is a chance of rain on Sunday. I hope that the rain holds off long enough for us to enjoy our hike, but if it is pouring rain, consider the event to be canceled. I encourage you to bring water, doggie bags, and hiking boots. It is likely to be muddy from the rain we've received lately.

Since the 2nd Sunday in May is Mother's Day, I'm scheduling this hike a week early.
