Henry Coe State Park - Headquarters (map)
Our member Ralph has another awesome opportunity to participate in a fun activity, AND see one of the beautiful state parks in the Bay Area:
The Hunting Hollow 5K/10K is a cross-country event that transverses a long valley with a meandering creek, late spring flowers, and various types of trees.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The race is limited to the first 250 entrants due to parking capacity! Onsite registration begins at 7:30am, everybody is off to the races at 9am.
ENTRY FEES: Until June 5th, $25.00; Late (Online) $30.00; Day of Event $35.00.
Please look at the Henry Coe State Park Website for complete details:
http://www.coepark.or..., and follow the directions there, not the ones posted on Meetup!
A nice run/walk through a beautiful area. Ralph and his family are already registered, so sign up, and contact Ralph so you can all 'meet up'!
OBTW there are stream crossings in this event! Yeah baby, a REAL cross-country (XC) run! Just to give those of you the heads-up on running XC, if you slow down at the stream crossing to try to keep your feet dry watch out for runners behind you b/c most XC runners (including yours truly) run through the water! It's part of the experience of running XC!
This race was awesome, to say the least. Not for those that want to keep their feet dry!

DIRECTIONS TO THE RACE: Take US 101 to Gilroy; Exit Leavesley Road (Route 152), head EAST; After about 1.8 miles turn LEFT (NORTH) on New Avenue; Go a little over one-half mile and then turn RIGHT (EAST) on Roop Road. After 3.3 miles up Roop Road you'll pass the Coyote Resevoir on the left. The Hunting Hollow entrance is about 3.3 miles past the Coyote Resevoir Road turnoff.
Hunting Hollow is about 9 miles from US 101 on slow, twisty roads. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO GET THERE!
