This group is for people who love vintage films and would like to experience them on a big screen and with an audience. We will be attending showings at the Bijou Cinema in the Hi-Desert. The Bijou Cinema is the premier destination for classic films in the Inland Empire. This vintage decor 35 seat theater shows both Hi-Def Video as well as Motion Picture Film on the big screen. It also has the capability for showing 3D movies in Polaroid 3D. The Bijou's 3D system looks better than what you see in the commercial movie theaters.
The Bijou Cinema is dedicated to showing classic films uncut, uncensored and in their original formats. At The Bijou you can see the films the way they were meant to be seen.
Mini-lectures by film historians will accompany each film presentation. There may also be field-trips to other areas in the Inland Empire for classic film presentations(unfortunately, there aren't many classic film presentations in the Inland Empire). If you like Film Noir, Classic Comedy, Silent Films, classic Animation, B-Movies and other vintage genres, then this group is just for you.
The most common problem occurring in meet up groups is people who RSVP yes, and then don't show up(sometimes as much as 80% of the group.) Because of this problem, we are following the policy of other meet up groups and instituting a 3 STRIKES AND YOU'RE OUT policy. This means that if you RSVP yes and are a no-show 3 times within 6 months, your membership will be cancelled. At that point, you still have the option of re-joining the group.
