Filmmaking became accessible for virtually everyone. Shooting on film is beautiful and as a Director/Writer I love it but I've seen remarkable Motion Pictures shot on cell phones and full frame digital cameras. There are many ways to make it in the Film Industry: Write a screenplay - hand it to an agent; make a short - send it to a festival; go to film school - make commercials/music videos; the key is MEET PEOPLE, WORK HARD TOGETHER, BE TENACIOUS and make films - don't talk about making them and what you would need and what you don't have etc. This group is for motivated creatives who want to make independent movies and built a network. We'll set meeting places to discuss projects. If we fall in love with a project we'll see if we can get funding and who can work on production. We'll pretty much scratch each other's backs and work on projects that we respect and earn respect for individual projects. There are lots of screenplays and ideas out there that haven't been made into a movie for one simple reason: THEY ARE EXPECTED NOT TO BE PROFITABLE. But studios have to deal with the union and permits and bunch of other things that swallow money. Independent Film does not.
