This e-mail is to clarify the relationship between DFT 50+ Singles on meetup and DFT as a dues paying social group for singles over 50.

DFT is a dues paying not for profit social group that is supported by its modest yearly dues of $20.   In order to reach out and increase its' membership base the executive committee decided to establish a presence on the  meetup website under the name DFT 50 + singles.  There is no charge to join the meetup group and as you can see, we have over 170 members at this time.  What has been happening however is that a number of people are coming to activities with no intention of becoming dues paying members of DFT.

The by-laws of DFT state  that a prospective member can come as a guest to a couple of DFT meetings, after which, they would have to become dues paying members.  Therefore the executive committee has decided to tighten the reigns a little..  If you are not a dues paying member, after attending two get togethers,  you will be asked to become a member in order to receive information on upcoming activities.   At that point, we will remove you from  DFT 50+ Singles on our meetup site. Becoming a dues paying member will continue to give you access to information on upcoming events through our monthly newsletter.

This may seem a little harsh, but in order to support our activities and internet presence, we have to depend on our yearly dues.  We hope that those attending our activities find that this is a fun and sociable group of people actively seeking to make new friends.

We hope that you will join us in some of our future activities and decide to become a member of DFT.

On behalf of the Executive Committee.

I am unable to find any organization on the internet called DFT or Dinner for Ten. How do we pay dues? How do I become a member?
