Let's Play Cards

Growing up in a cold Northern state, I played a lot of cards. Upon moving to Texas, it seemed the idea of playing cards was texas hold'em. Whatever happened to the classics: gin rummy, hearts, spades, canasta etc? Let's bring these back! For those who need a little more action or strategy, there's Pounce, Hand and Foot or Thumper. So let's get together, enjoy some pizza or pasta and play cards!

For those who want to eat dinner, please feel free to do so before or during as appropriate to the game. Menu below.

Please bring a deck of cards- a unique back will help us to sort them at the end.

Is it okay if an inexperienced card player joins you?

Of course! We all started somewhere right? We will go over how to play at the beginning of each game. I am hoping to teach a fun game that looks suspiciously like solitaire, but a whole lot more exciting. We are likely to have some hearts/spades players and maybe a canasta type game going. Kristin, Jessica and Elvis have all volunteered to teach us some new games too. You are sure to find something of interest!

I have an unplanned surgery Monday. I'm sorry to miss a game of cards, but don't think I'll be up to playing. Have fun!

We played an advance form of canasta the first month, but haven't played Canasta or Pinochle, maybe we can roll out one of these this time.

If we play Canasta can someone bring a Hoyle's book for it? I can't remember any of the myriad rules, but I can warm up fast if I see them all at once in print.

Someone else was asking for Canasta. Hand and Foot is like advanced Canasta. I love hand and foot too.

Thank you Jessica for teaching Rummy 500. Elvis- can't wait to see what you've got to teach us this month! Marnie- no problem finding hearts and spades players in this group! And maybe for those looking for some action, we can Pounce! No matter what we play we are sure to have a good time.
