DFW Clojure Monthly Meeting - Clojure in Production with Immutant

Norman Richards is coming up from the Austin Clojure meetup group to tell us about Immutant. You might remember him from his excellent presentation on core.logic a couple months ago.

-----

Immutant is a Clojure application server based on the JBoss Application Server that is popular in the Java Enterprise world.  In the talk, I'll explain how to install, configure and run Immutant.  I'll demo running an application that takes advantage of Immutant's clustering, caching and messaging support.  And, I'll talk about some of our experience using Immutant at Threatgrid.

Good meeting, Norman knew his stuff, and was obviously very excited about both clojure as a language, and the immutant platform.

Hopefully this is just the tip of the co-operation between the three Texas Clojure meetups. (I met some guys from SA who are considering starting something up there. If anyone from the group has a topic they want to share, we'd love to have you down in Austin. But, there's no obligation.

I'll update the repo later to reflect that "lein cllsbuild once" issue we ran into last night.

If you want to play along during the demos, (and I hope you do) then you might want to grab the pi-game repo (https://github.com/orb/pi-game) and run "lein immutant install" to download immutant. (the plugin is in the pi-game project.clj)

We'll do that during the demo tomorrow. But the short version is from the pi-game directory, do "lein immutant install" once to install immutant. Then "lein immuant deploy" to deploy the app to immutant. "lein immutant run" will run the immutant and start the app. It would be available on "http://localhost:8080...;. If you have any problems - don't worry. We'll do all this during the talk tomorrow.
