Yeah, normally I wouldn't upload so many pictures, but it looks like I was the only gun there from the group.

Yeah, the costumes were awesome, and some of the players really got into their roles. I'll have some more pictures up as soon as I can edit them.

Dang, the next time I wanna buy a costume/cosplay, I'll look at what y'all can do ^^

Ditto what Niki said. I really like Worbla. I've used it to create several armor pieces for Borderlands costumes, a superhero facemask, and a few other props. It can definitely get pricey, but it's very easy to use. I just heat it with my hair dryer. Patterning is definitely your friend (and sales offers from cosplaysupplies.com). Wonderflex is another option. You can also cover craft foam with stretch spandex for another inexpensive and flexible option (http://rufflebuttcosp...).

Looks like I'll defiantly be at the airshow weather permitting! Last year I let the wife play with the D300 while I stomped around with my Speed Graphic. I did some extensive post processing on some of her shots. . . and one won first place at the Alliance photo contest. She doesn't want to go this year so I get a two day VIP pass and pre-show shooting time!

I have a general question for the group...is anyone planning on going to the DCC coming up October 4-6th?

    September 14, 2013

  • John D.

I might have a friend join in costume but need to discuss with them first.

    September 11, 2013

  • Alan B.

Since this group is meant to link photo and cosplay enthusiasts, I suggest having some cards with your contact info and this website on them. That might help grow the group here. If the wife didn't have her heart set on all of us being at Great Wolf that weekend I'd be going in a heartbeat.

    • Chris L

Great idea Alan! I will get a flyer put together to distribute at the show.

      September 8, 2013

  • Chris L

Just a few general things that might be helpful based on the questions:

    1. There is an entry fee to the show but not an additional fee for the contest. The show entry fee is just $2/person.
    2. The rules for the contest can be found on the website at www.comicbooksdallas.com.
    3. Photographers are certainly welcome. Alan Butler was at the last show and came back with some awesome work. The Cosplayers that saw his finished product were ecstatic; some not from this group.
    4. I promote the show and have added the contest to give another venue for Cosplayers. I suggested the meetup and time based on the start time of the contest. Once you have registered to participate you will probably split off individually to promote your costume and character. See the rules and you will get a better idea on this. Everyone will be back together again for the final judging at 3.

I look forward to seeing everyone and hope these comments help clarify.

Will there be an organized meeting place, or will everyone be scattered?

    September 5, 2013

    • Chris L

The registration area could be the group meetup point,or, there is a small sitting area outside the first showroom. I guess that can be coordinated among the group.

me and my husbband are new to the area and were gonna try to go. :) theres not a entery fee is there?

    September 5, 2013

    • Chris L

Looking forward to seeing you and the hubby. There is only the show entry fee which is $2/person. There is no additional entry fee for the contest. Hope that helps.

    Are photographers welcome?

    September 5, 2013

    • Alan B.

Check "past meetups" to see the ones I took last time. No formal shooting area, I used flash on flip frame with omniquest. But, the lobby bar (which was closed the day I went) looks like a good place to shoot.

I'm planning on it for now. Should be fun.

      September 5, 2013

David, photographers are welcome. Yes, we are a pretty relaxed event. Looking forward to seeing some great Cosplay.

    September 5, 2013

  • Niki Q.

I will be there with the boyfriend! Patrick may or may not cosplay, but I definitely will be cosplaying. I may have something new to wear. ^_^

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
