Share the Gift of Your Voice
in this special end of the year meeting.
Our special end of the year meeting is approaching. We are scheduled to meet at the Schimelfenig Library in Plano but I would welcome an offer from one of our members to host this meeting in their home. It would be a wonderful way to be able to relate informally as a group and bring in the holiday spirit. Please contact me if you live in Plano, Addison or Dallas close to where our group reguarly meets and you would like to offer your home as a meeting place for our Read-Aloud on Sunday, December 13th from 2-4:30pm.
At the holiday season no matter what tradition you follow, the overriding sentiment is always love. We transfer love from our hearts to others through the tone and quality of our voices. Sharing stories out loud was how families spent time together in the past. For the last meeting of the year we would like to revive this tradition. Reading out loud is especially effective for listening to poetry or to stories that have dialogue. The oral tradition of storytelling goes way back in our history and we would do well to revive it at this time to encourage the creation of the community feeling that many of us miss living in our fast paced world.
Kittie Beletic, author of several books including What Color is Your Dream has just started a new movement to revive Reading Aloud and sharing the importance of it with others. Kittie has a long and lustrous career as an actress, singer, performer, song writer and dramatist. As the author of 50 musicals and over 500 songs, Kittie is also the co-founder of Repertory Company Theatre in Dallas. In addition, she is an accomplished artist and illustrator. Kittie will enlighten us on the importance of reading aloud before we have the opportunity to share our own gifts of writing by reading them out loud to others at this meeting.
You are invited to join us as we create an end of the year celebration. Please bring a gift of writing to read out loud plus a simple gift of food to share with others. The writing you choose to read may be your own or another passage you feel appropriate to share with this group. You may certainly attend this meeting just as a listener if you prefer not to read your own writing at this time. We also welcome guests that may enjoy revisiting an old tradition.
Make plans now to attend by RSVPing today. It's a wonderful and heartfelt way to share the holidays this season.End of the Year Read-AloudThe Dallas Self-Publishing Support Group
