WELCOME to the DFW GROUP THAT LOVES MOVIES! Join us for a cinema experience followed by thought-provoking discussion. We see both big studio and indie recent releases. Occasionally, we come across other sorts of entertainment - like film fests, television previews, meals connected to movie topics, panel discussions or whatever. Many of these have free tickets available, in which case, you only pay for drinks & food.
M&M is open to cineastes of all tastes and walks of life [except NC-17]. If you like classics, join our classic movie group: http://www.meetup.com/DFWClassicMovies/ If you want to organize events at a time and place more convenient for you, ask to be an Assistant Organizer and we'll see if hosting is something you might do.
When we have FREE tickets, ARRIVE EARLY to get in line before the "theater full" cutoff. Since we often can't save places on freebie blockbusters, we usually can't sit together, but afterward, meet in the designated meeting place. You'll either have the organizer's cell phone number or else know the organizer by the special clothing or object mentioned in the meetup announcement (hat, shawl, balloons, etc).
When we don't have free tickets, we gather in the lobby near the box office, before the film. You can sit with others from M&M during the movie. If you arrive late, meet us in the theater or afterward for the discussion. Usually, discussion happens in the lobby cafe, downstairs or next door, or at a nearby cafe or bar. We'll announce the location or convene afterward to decide. It's all about the gathering - don't miss it!
If you attend, please do rate the event [but not your personal experience ("I was late and could not find anyone" or "I sat next to someone who was rude/talking") or the movie (the sound was too loud in the theater or the production was poor) or the parking issues, etc.] The meetup rating is about your experience of the group, organization and discussion. The venue is a separate rating, also offered. Go on IMDb or flixster to rate the film itself. We'll talk about the movie in the discussion session.
See you at the movies!
This documentary is made by Unity Film Productions, based on a book of the same title. The film documents the findings of the ground-breaking, six-year Gallup poll conducted with residents in 35 predominately Muslim nations. The Islamic Center of DFW invited me, as a teacher of World Religions, so they definitely are behind this. The findings answer questions such as:
