Nonprofits and Techies Collide - How we can make a BIG difference together

This session will focus on how nonprofits and techies can work together to effect change in the world (or at least in DFW!). If you are new to NTEN and aren't sure what we're about, or if you're a member who wants to know next things you can do to get involved, you won't want to miss this meeting!!

About us:

Beginning in January 2014, we will be alternating between networking opportunities and meetings and hands on education. Some of the educational meetings might cover topics like: nonprofit technology, marketing, business practices, customer relationship management, fundraising and donor management, and volunteer management best practices!

If there's something particular you would like to see in the coming meetings (either educationally or otherwise), please bring your suggestions!

We will also be discussing future locations for meetings: while the restaurant atmosphere is fine for socializing, it won't always be ideal for learning, so UTA has kindly offered to partner with us in hosting some of our meetings in the continuing education building!

I'm excited to see you all, and I hope you can make it out for our meeting!!

Annalisa, next time I see you I'll hand you a cream filled donut (or glass of Kook Aid) to toss at Mark our favorite cult leader. The meeting was changed to June due to Comic Con. Sorry about the confusion.

I was on my way and ran into some car trouble. :-( sad I couldn't make it. I was looking forward to learning what some of the local non-profits tech needs are.

Hey everyone! Hopefully this next time around, we can get an email list started. I know that we are looking for a way to do a volunteer project for all the techie's out there. I could really use some help in my new role (now that I have a better understanding) in designing some databases and ways to make my job easier. Hopefully we will be able to talk about this.

Salesforce software is completely free for NPOs, Volunteers for SF is completely free also. The cost would come in implementing it - ie, if you don't have a person who can figure it out and set it up for you, it could be frustrating, but if you're relatively techy it could be simpler.

I agree with Joni. Salesforce is a great tool, it can be a little daunting at first because of how much the platform offers, but once you get started on the basics it opens up a lot of possibilities. Everything you need to get going is point and click.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
