I have always loved learning languages; and admired people who could speak more than one. So, I felt that learning Mandarin would help bridge cultural gaps, provide me with a unique skill (for Americans), and help me develop personally.
I am not proficient; but, I have been working on improving for over 2 years. I understand the basics (sentence structure, tones, etc); and I have a basic vocabulary (mostly 1 & 2 character). My biggest problem is that I rarely get an opportunity to use what I know in a comfortable environment.
No, but I hope to some day soon.
I'm a native Texan, Air Force veteran, IT architect (computer geek), and motorcycle rider. I've been married for 24 years, and have an son who is 18. I'm Native American & European, and I consider myself Buddhist.
