Group for those who like classic films, not just recent releases. We primarily meet at a clubhouse, coffeeshop, in public libraries, home theaters and other venues with projectors or big plasma screens. The Magnolia in the West Village often has free Turner Classic movies showing on the big screen. We then meet to talk about the film, afterward.
Feel free to arrange another meeting place, a film favorite or become an assistant organizer and sponsor a screening near you. We'd love to spread out ... to have regular events in Dallas, Arlington and Plano. I have a list of classics on DVD or VHS that I own, if you want to borrow one and host an event.
Of the four main silent film stars of the ' 20s, Harry Langdon is the most obscure, but in many ways, his was the most interesting character. Harold Lloyd of course had his still impressive kinetic stunt features where he would often go out on a limb in some death defying scene. Buster Keaton had his cerebral man against nature themes where he was usually dwarfed by the elements in some shocking way. Read more
