Hey guys, Just a quick note to let you know that the Organizers are going to start keeping up with RSVPs on the different events.. We have over 250 members now, which is fantastic, but it seems like the larger the group, the less people who bother updating their RSVPs! Case in point, a movie 2 weeks ago that had 8 Yes's and 7 Maybe's, yet in the end there were only 2 of us who showed up. Nobody wants to go out expecting to meet a group just to find out that half the group didn't show! And with over 250 members, there's no reason for a meetup to EVER have just 2 people show up!
So, going forward, please keep your RSVP as up to date as possible. There will no longer be a "maybe" option for the movies, and members who repeatedly RSVP Yes but then don't show will be removed from the group after 3 occurrences. Also, members who don't visit the Meetup site (and/or) come to any events for more than 3 months will be removed from the group...We want this to be an ACTIVE, fun group, and the Organizers are working hard to schedule a lot of movies for yall.So please be respectful and update your RSVPs!
If you have questions or comments, feel free to email me directly.
Group for those who like classic films, not just recent releases. We primarily meet at a clubhouse, coffeeshop, in public libraries, home theaters and other venues with projectors or big plasma screens (all over Dallas area - from Ray Hubbard to Joe Pool Lake). The Magnolia in the West Village often has Turner Classic movies showing on the big screen. We then talk about the film, afterward. Feel free to arrange another meeting place, screen a film favorite or become an assistant organizer and sponsor a screening near you. We'd love to spread out ... west to FtWorth and north to Frisco or Plano. I have a list of classics on DVD or VHS that I own, if you want to borrow one and host an event.
