Dallas, TX
Announcing a new Meetup for Classic Movie Fans!

What: season premier of the 4th season of "Mad Men".....

When: Sunday, July 25, 2010 8:45 PM

Where: Angelika Film Center Dallas
Mockingbird Station, 5321 E Mockingbird Lane Dallas, TX
Dallas, TX 75206

A merge meetup with the Dallas Indie movie meetup. We figured there might be some interest on this Classic Movie meetup for this great show which perfectly evokes the early 60s era, certainly a classic era in itself. And actually as buzy Sunday as there are 3 cool meetups in a row that afternoon/night. Links for the Plano Pizza meetup at 3:00 ( delish pizza! ), and the regular meetup movie earlier also at the Angelika, an interesting doc called "The Nature of Existence" at around 5:00 ( exact time announced later ) at the bottom......

Last year, during the 3rd season of AMC's wonderful period piece "Mad Men", we ( the Dallas Indie Movie meetup ) would more often then not have a movie Sunday afternoon at the Angelika. So after we went somewhere to eat, some of us would go back to the Angelika to catch the 9:00 showing. We never made it an official meetup, but I thought I would now, at least the season opener just to inform people of it. Ed? I know you're in. Melissa? Michelle? Jann, where have you been? I know you love this show. Anyway, let's see what kind of response we get doing a meetup for it, even though it's a Sunday night.

For those who don't know, "Mad Men" is an ensemble piece about a Madison ave advertising agency set in the early 60s. It started in 1960 and ended last season in December 63. One of the last episodes was mostly centering on how many of them were reacting to the shocking news that Kennedy was assassinated. The attention to detail is just so dead on, I'm looking forward to how they handle the mid-late 60s. And not just the look, but how they show how different the attitudes were back then. I liked how Peggy and a couple of others were all excited to go to the village to see this new young folksinger they keep reading about, Bob Dylan.

Anyway, a busy Sunday, what with the Pizza meetup, the meetup with our regular movie we're seeing at the Angelika and this ( links below ). Everyone is welcome to go to any and all of it. The time for the "Nature Of Existence" movie will be announced later, but somewhere around 5:00, so we can see it, go somewhere and eat, and then walk back to the Angelika for the 9:00 showing of "Mad Men". And as I say, there is the Plano Pizza meetup at 3:00 for those who want to go for that.....
