WEDNESDAY EVENING KAYAK POLO AND PRACTICE

  • Apr 30, 2014 · 5:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

COME OUT EVERY WEDNESDAY EVENING AND PLAY "DEAD FISH POLO" OR JUST PADDLE AROUND AND PRACTICE SKILLS WITH A INSTRUCTOR AROUND FOR PADDLING TIPS.

This is a free session we've put on for 3 years now. We are moving to Katie's Woods park as there is not a gate fee but a nice restroom is available and the boat ramp is shut down.

If you need a boat Discover Kayak will be there with extra boats. Rental is only $20 for the evening.

If you intend to play polo, bring a kayak or bicycle helmet. There is not a specific start time but we will be there at 5pm, get there when you can.

Traffic should be much better this year as the construction around the airport has finished up!

I had a great time learning how to maneuver the waves and practice turning in them. Thank you Teresa for the lesson and Steve for having the yaks. Looking forward to Sundays demo.

Is the Wednesday evening session happening today or are the winds too strong?

The wind is just right for beginners and intermediate paddlers to experience bumpy water with some experienced paddlers. If you go out into rough water with us expect to get wet. The water is reasonably warm and we can get you back out quick if you fall out. It will be a lot of fun, better the polo!

Hi! Looking forward to this. I will be renting out as I do not have a kayak. Do they also have life vests or do I need to bring one? Any other equipment needed/recommended? Thanks!

Sorry, will have to miss it today. I just got a change of plans and would not be able to make it there before 7pm.

Map is accurate now. Easiest way to the park is to follow Doolly Street north from Highway 26/Northwest Hwy. till you come to a Y, bear left and follow signs to the Katie's Woods Boat ramp.
