It was the perfect day for the event. There was little or no wind and the overcast prevent us from getting too much sun.Only wish there were more folks to enjoy it.

Have to back out. I thought my wife's flight was getting into DAL at 4:30. Found out it is at 2:30. Since it is her birthday, I had better be on time getting her. Really looking forward to Texoma, too.

Right now we're looking good with SE wind 15mph.

I do encourage everyone to follow the weather starting a few days ahead of time right up to the morning of the trip. You don't want to blindly follow the leaders, they may be nuts! Make you're own call.

Besides looking at the weather you need to know you're planned launch and the layout of the lake. This info will give you a idea how big the waves and exposure to wind will be.
In the case of Texoma at Highport the south with will come up the channel between Highport and the Islands. This gives the wind a long distance to build waves.

Always keep up with the details on a trip.

    See you Sunday,
    Steve

Is 1:00 the estimated time we will be back at Highport?

Your kayak will do fine as long as you can paddle 3 to 3.5 mph to keep up with the group . Longer kayaks are faster and more efficient . Try out as many kayaks as you can to find the one you like the best. You can read reviews on paddling.net.

This sounds like a great trip, I wish we didn't have our Sunday already scheduled for something else. Hopefully this won't be the last event at Texoma this year.
