Paddle the Fort Worth Nature Center

Put in at the Fort Worth nature Center ($5 fee per person) and paddle to the dam at Eagle Mountain Lake. There is a lot of wildlife on this trip, which is suitable for beginners. This time of year you can often see Gators. (they are fairly tame and will not bother paddlers) as well as lots of bird life and turtles etc. There are also hiking trails for those who want to hike after the paddle, or for adventurous souls, paddle the other way out to Lake Worth and Greer Island.

We had a leisurely paddle through the nature center with great folks. We saw snakes, birds of many types, deer, buffalo, and a friendly gator. And we learned that Louie can swim!

I second that!! This was a fantastic trip, even with my impromptu swim. Thanks again for putting this together, and even more thanks for making the time adjustment.

I can make it at 10 am, not before. Your original post said 9 am.

Is there any interest in doing this a little later in the day, like at noon. I have had one request.

Looks tempting. Does anyone know what the water levels are?

There is not a gauge on this section, but there is always enough water to paddle because Eagle Mtn is required to release a regular amount into Lake Worth, and on into the Trinity.

    Wish I could.
