Free, Keller: Build Home of Clay: Strong, Energy-Efficient, Durable, Economical

Much of the DFW area has the perfect soil for home building--it is strong (area clay tests to strength of 2000 psi), better than energy-efficient (cooler in summer, warmer in winter), durable (100s of years endurance), truly low maintenance (Ft Worth Engineer says maintenance starts in about 100 years), and beautiful--build from any architectural style.

Technology gave us CEB machines that utilize a high-pressure hydralic ram to quickly provide strong blocks. The labor necessary for building with CEB is relatively unskilled (less expensive and often DIY) and much less intensive than other soil building methods. To me, it is the building material of the future IF you have the correct soil and we certainly have it in many locations in North Central Texas.

But it was also the most enduring building material of our past--see theTaos Pueblos in New Mexico that are 1000 years old.

A North Texas expert on Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB), Stuart van Nus, shares his knowledge of this building mode and answers questions in Keller. Free. He will also have information about his upcoming seminar on the subject (June 23) in the Addison area.

I am so glad that you are offering this second class! For one, Keller is sooo much closer to me and for two, the DFW NORML Conference is on the 8th, too and I'm attending from morning until night!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
