Back in 2011, State of Search was a one night thing and that was amazing. I wasn't able to make it in 2012, and missed out on the fun. This year, I was blown away by the amount of high quality information. There were so many tracks it was hard to choose. Highlights for me were the psychographics capabilities of Facebook, handy services for making local more manageable, an unexpected but very insightful talk about company management by Rand Fishkin of Moz. I really like Moz's management structure and how they equally compensate those who manage tasks and manage people. He's right you shouldn't have to move into management in order to get higher pay increases. I also liked Duane Forrester's comment on just how big Bing's data centers are. How big are they? They have to call O'Hare airport to re-route planes when they vent the heat out the roof. Whoooooaaah... Props to Greg Gifford for taking point and the other officers for making this happen. Looking forward to State of Search 2014.
