Domain Specific Languages

  • DSLs are programming languages or specification languages dedicated to a particular problem domain. They attempt to bridge the gap between domain experts and developers through expressive and fluent syntax. Martin Fowler's latest book, "Domain-Specific Languages", does a deep dive into the benefits and limitations of implementing DSLs within your organization, and I think it be a great topic for one of our upcoming meetings.

https://github.com/leblancmeneses/NPEG - if you plan on creating your own text based dsl. Language fluent interfaces (another form of dsl) like telerik/kendo ui asp.net mvc controls - although there are many in this category - pretty much any open source project now have configuration builders (nservicebus, topshelf, entity framework, npeg)

Maybe that would be a good topic for Fowler at an upcoming quarterly, if we're able to lock that down.
