An Evening with Jeff Patton

Join us for an evening with Jeff Patton (in person). Jeff is a great Agile thinker focusing on the holistic design and development of successful software products. He developed the user story mapping paradigm that allows a visual representation of your backlog (http://www.agileproductdesign.com/presentations/user_story_mapping/index.html)

I thought it was a great meeting. Jeff showed us that producing a great product is much more than having a great velocity. I'm going to try to get our company or product to work more on Discovery and have some metrics to measure how a feature measures up.

This was exactly what we needed. An even full of great information presented by a knowledgeable and entertaining speaker with something in it for everyone in attendance. I wish there was little more concentration of how he goes about Story Mapping in different situations but on the whole...just great.

I thought Jeff was very practical and his use of motion video and pictures of hand written index cards as his visual media were surprisingly effective. I learned a lot about our real goal in software, not to produce great software, but solve the pain points for the customers.

I'm encouraging everyone in the Dallas Agile Leadership Network to come on out for this. Jeff's an amazing speaker. After the DFW Scrum meeting, if you'd like to carry on the conversation over at the Gaylord at Agile 2012 - I've scheduled a (belated) 'happy hour' meetup of the Dallas ALN (exact location TBD). http://www.meetup.com/Dallas-ALN/events/76980632/ It promises to be quite an evening.

NOTE: The 'happy hour' effectively starts at 9pm so no rush. It's only about a 30 minute drive to the Gaylord.

Does anyone want to get together during Agile2012? I haven't been able to attend meetings of this group due to family responsibilities in the evening, but Agile2012 might be a nice time to get together and meet other members.
