The DiVAs! Mission Statement
The mission of DiVAs! (Dames in Volunteer Activities!) is to bring women together who are dedicated to making greater Knoxville a better place by providing support to area charities and causes and to identify new charity opportunities. While the product of DiVAs! is service and/or financial or material assistance, the bi-product is the friendships that are created as a result.
...More specifically, we're a group of women aged 50ish-65ish, who get together every month for dinner, fun and picking a charity to “adopt” the following month. We regularly contribute time and/or money and/or materials to local charities including Ronald McDonald House, Ladies of The Charities, the American Heart Association and Mt Olive Elementary School. We also have annual special events for Meals on Wheels and The Run for the Wall. We're always looking for new causes to support. We meet on the first Thursday night of the month at different area restaurants. Our dinners are always lively!
Please note, at this time DiVAs! is not taking new members. We'd love to put you on our waiting list, though! We'll contact you just as soon as a space opens. Please contact Peggy Glenn. Thank you for your understanding!
- Annual dues of $10 payable by the 15th of April. Please email Peggy Glenn for the address of our treasurer if you cannot attend either May or April meetings. If you cannot pay by April 15th, please understand we will have to remove your name from our roster. The dues covers this meetup page and helps build our discretionary fund bank for donations to chosen nonprofits, cards/flowers for members, etc.
- Must participate in at least one activity per quarter (a monthly meeting, service activity, financial or material donation (per charity/group's needs). Please check this page regularly for opportunities to participate.
-Mandatory RSVP. 3 no-shows revokes your membership. Barring unforeseen circumstances, changing your RSVP from attending to not attending must be done by 3pm the day of the meetup. Having an accurate number of attendees is essential for the restaurants to accommodate us as well as to ensure we have enough participants and/or materials for our activities.
