SPECIAL MEET-UP! In-Vitro Meat discussion with Isha Datar of New Harvest

Isha Datar (@IshaDatar) will be visiting and presenting to us, representing New Harvest (http://www.new-harvest.org/), the non-profit research organization advancing alternatives to conventionally produced meat. Isha has an interactive program planned all about cultured meat - meat grown by multiplying muscle cells in vitro rather than in vivo. She will be introducing the science and it's current state, with brainstorming sessions with all of DIYbio for what this technology might look like in our future. Isha will be tying in intro concepts to cell and molecular biology, so it will be fun and accessible for everyone!

Please join us for this very special DIYBio Toronto meetup! Tell your friends!

Hi guys, this was one of the papers that the talk last night was kind of based off of. http://www.new-harvest.org/2012/01/mark-post-cultured-meat-from-stem-cells-challenges-and-prospects-meat-science-2012/

A nice brief written by a volunteer, and then you can click the citation for access to the full paper!

What's happening to the study group? They're timed pretty far apart, and we don't want to lose momentum, so we should reschedule it. I suggest we do next Thursday (18th).

Looking forward to the New Harvest session!

Instructions for getting to our room at the DMZ:Enter 10 Dundas Street East, in the lobby, just like you're gonna by tickets for the theatre. Find the escalator down to subway level. From there, forward and right to go down AGAIN to get to B2. Then, go around to the left, see the big glass DMZ doors. We're just inside to the right. TXT me if you have problems,[masked]

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
