Hey all!
Lisa an I are (probably) going and doing some experiments with food. anybody wants to join the parade?
especially the wearable people: anybody doing stuff with light?

Call for Submissions!

As part of the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche:

http://www.scotiabank...

The Ontario Science Centre’s !dea Gallery and the University of Windsor’s Incubator Lab invite you to join a parade of local nocturnal ecology in ceremonial procession of bioart projects departing from our home-base tent at CAMH at 9 pm, 1 am, and 5 am. Costumed artists/performers, joined by musicians and the public, will illuminate and reveal a menagerie of living organisms via digital media and phosphorescence.

Building on the success of last year’s Art and Ecology Parade organized in Windsor, the ECO NUIT PARADE will take to the streets of Toronto. A home-base tent for the parade will reside on the front lawn of Toronto’s CAMH on Queen Street where the public will be able to interact with parade participants, and see the portable exhibits up close. Throughout the night members of the public will be asked to join the parade, marching along a 30 min route through downtown Toronto. Musicians and the public will join approx. 30-40 artists and performers. Costumes will glow in the dark! Devices will emit sound and light! Spectators eager to join the parade will be given masks, streamers, noisemakers, and take-home lab experiments.

We are inviting members of the Toronto community to participate in the ECO NUIT Parade. Participants will commit to marching in the ECO NUIT PARADE at 9 pm, 1 am, and 5 am, but will also have free time to explore other events at the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche.

We are looking for two types of participants:

1) General Marchers: We invite high energy people with good stamina to work as general marchers for the parade. These individuals will be assigned glowing costumes, and parade duties such as… handing out flyers and candy to the crowds, making noise, carrying signs. Please send a brief letter explaining your interest in participating in the project to Pearl Van Geest by August 20, 2013.

2) Featured Artist and Musician or Performer projects: We invite people with unique portable art/science projects they would like to march in the parade to send us your proposals. We are looking for works that explore themes around the local ecology and the night. All projects or performers must emit light or glow in some sense. Please send a one page proposal of your proposed project to Pearl Van Geest by August 20, 2013.

Lastly, there are no artist fees associated with participating in the parade - but a take home gift for all registered participants and a great time!

Hi Samantha,
Roberta and I submitted our project Biolab on Wheels, which is a mobile bio lab attached to the trailer of a bike. If you feel like joining in, feel free to get in touch!
