Really cool article talking about work where they replaced one of the stop codons (UAG) with others, then engineered new tRNAs to repurpose UAG to a new amino acid, thus making entirely new proteins with novel features (e.g. binding to metal!). Looks to be pretty early stage, but it's a great example of whats possible with synthetic biology!
