Blacksmithing Discovery Night

Blacksmithing at Adam's Forge Discovery Night

Not sure what blacksmithing is or if you’re interested? Like hands-on projects? This could be for you! Join us for this fun night of hands-on making and community building.

About Adam's Forge:

Adam's Forge is a cooperative of artist blacksmiths sharing knowledge, a place to work, tools, equipment and camaraderie. Its primary mission is to raise awareness, teach skills, preserve and advance the craft, and broaden and grow the blacksmithing community. We went there last year for a Discovery Day and had a great time. Check out the photos !

Workshop Description:

Instructors will provide a demonstration of blacksmithing and then we'll be able to give it a try in the hot forge with their help. The project will be simple and give you a taste of what hot forging is about. You’ll learn basic tooling and forging skills while having fun and walking away with a useful metal item. We'll make this letter opener.

Time: 7pm - 10pm

Cost: $20 you can pay Adams Forge directly here

Go to Discovery Night and select May 9th

Hope to see you there!

Luz, thank you for setting this up! So much fun! Transforming a steel rod into a tool using fire and hammer blows feels modern and primitive all at once and nurtures my inner badass. ;-)

I just heard from Nancy at Adams Forge a few minutes ago that they can expand the class to allow 2 more - if you're interested let me know and bring $20 cash or check to the class. Thanks for your interest!

This sounds fantastic! I took a lost-wax casting class years ago and have always been enchanted by the transformation of metal under heat and pressure.
