Meet Me in Georgetown: A Walking Tour

Any one up for a walk?  I'm working on the route for a Georgetown trek.  If you have any good directions or landmarks that we should see, now is the time to "write up".

Our starting point will most likely be Washington Circle Park, directly north of the Foggy Bottom Metro station and GWU Hospital.  It is my understanding that Foggy Bottom is the closest metro stop.  We will go to the Georgetown Waterfront, but I haven't figured whether that will be the end of our trek or just a stop along the way.

We walked approximately 4.8 miles, counting a start at Washington Circle to an end at Sweet Greens.

We should get extra credit for the Exorcist steps. :)

I just realized that while most of the attractions in Georgetown are open, the waterfront park is closed (the boardwalk by Washington Harbor is open).

Washington Circle Park will probably be closed due to the shutdown. Maybe we should meet at Foggy Bottom station instead? I'd need to know the meeting place by noon (leaving early because I'm walking from Dupont). I don't have a smartphone, so I won't see updates after I leave home. If I don't see anything before I leave, I'll look for you at Washington Circle on the side closest to Foggy Bottom station.

Hi Colleen, Let's meet @ up the street from Foggy Bottom Station on the southside of the circle (the side closest to Foggy Bottom station) if the park is closed off. I will send out an email with my phone number so that attendees can call or text me, in case there is confusion.

Here's a suggested walking tour from National Geographic:

I don't know the area well - it's been a while. I'd be OK with meeting at Washington Circle. It's on the way from Dupont.

I can't attend, but Dumbarton Oaks (fabulous gardens), Montrose Park (great view of the cathedral) and Oak Hill Cemetery (just serenity personified, beautiful setting in the hilly palisades of Rock Creek) should be on your list! All along R St. between 28th and 32nd. Could end the trek at Dupont Circle metro.
