Tapas Brunch @ Jaleo

Gazpacho, Tapas, Paella and Sangria.  Our brunch @ Jaleo last December was a really good time, with great conversation and ample tasting of most of the tapas menu.  :)

Jaleo in Crystal City is a little bit more laid back than its DC and MD cousins, but shares the same good Spanish food found at the other locations. Come out share a paella or tapas with your fellow intuverts. :) We look forward to seeing you there...

================

Jaleo Crystal City is located just a couple of blocks south of the Crystal City Metro, at 23rd and Crystal Drive.

Coming from the Metro? Just stay inside the underground, and walk down to one of the exits south of 20th street on to Crystal Drive (turn left at the "Slice & Dice" and Framing store hallway for the best exit), go outside, turn right and walk to the corner. Or walk the entire length of underground (south) toward 23rd, exit on 23rd Street, turn left and go to the corner.

Driving? On the weekends, parking is free in the Crystal City Shops parking garage. Click this link for driving directions and a map of parking locations: http://www.thecrystalcityshops.com/_files/docs/ccs_directions_parking_02b.pdf

Heads Up:  Jaleo is a restaurant that is notorious for not being able to split the bill into separate checks, but will split the total into thirds or fourths.  Attendees will most likely share their portion of the total bill on a check with at least 3 or 4 people.  I recommend that you bring cash, approximately $30 - $40.  Last year with 14 people, we had an average per person check of a bit over $27, which did not include drinks which were separate from the overall bill.

Good morning! The snowicane forecast hasn't changed and I have to drive 30 miles there so I won't be able to make the event today.

For Metrorail riding attendees, looks like track work is cancelled for today.

    Enjoy! Victor

I'm also going to let the weather be my guide. If I decide it would be unwise to come, I'll change my RSVP. fingers crossed...

I will be there. It does seem like the weather is getting dicey, but being from Chicago and having also lived in upstate NY and Maine I enjoy that kind of thing. See you all.

Re: metro advisory. It sounds like coming from Ballston, I'd take the Orange to Rosslyn, but from there I can't take a train to Crystal City but instead would have to take a shuttle bus from Rosslyn to the Pentagon and then the Blue Line from Pentagon to Crystal City.

Anyone who might have the same challenge have any thoughts on this?

    Thx.

I don't know if it's faster, but you could take Blue line too a Yellow line stop and then that all the way to Pentagon city. It winds up faster for me to get to DC from points south via yellow

That's a good idea and the yellow line goes to crystal city. Not as concerned about the time as avoiding multiple connections.

Heads up, Metro Riders! All Metro lines will be undergoing work this weekend. The Blue Line Arlington Cemetery station will be closed and shuttles will be provided between Rosslyn and Pentagon. http://www.wmata.com/rider_tools/metro_service_status/rail_bus.cfm?nocache

I drive from the N. Baltimore area, and the weather is looking a bit dicey so I won't be making this one. I look forward to future meet ups. Have a nice time.

Hi Everyone, Please keep your RSVP up to date, whether you are on the attendee or waiting list. I will watch the RSVPs on the attendee/waiting list and increase the list based on who is still on the list and availability at Jaleo. The weather is expected to take a turn for the worst - the forecast is cold and wintry, so plan accordingly.
