A Fall Day in Alexandria: George Washington Masonic Monument & Old Town

Let's spend a nice fall day in Alexandria.  We will start at the Masonic Temple monument on the North (west?) side of the King Street metro station (blue/yellow).  A tour is available (first come, first serve) at 1:30 PM.  Tickets:  General Admission $5; Tour $8.

From there we will trek down King Street enjoying the historical sites, quaint shops and artistic finds (at one of the various art galleries, Torpedo Factory sites).  After our walk, we will stop at one of the restaurants for an economical sip n' nosh and a bit of warmth before we make our way back to the Metro.  :)

If you have any recommendations for places we should stop, please use the comments below to tell us about them.  BTW, there is a shuttle available if we are feeling a little "lazy" and want to take a warmer, non-walking option down to Old Town from the metro.  Street parking is free in Old Town on Sundays and some garages are a bit cheaper on that day.  Plan accordingly. Here is a map of the area around the King Street Metro.

Looking forward to your input...

My first Meetup with this group, and I really enjoyed the company. Not sure if it's because everyone was so likable in general, or that it was just so refreshing to be with other intuverts. Either way, I plan to be back!

Just to confirm are meeting at the King Street Metro at 12:45 or at the monument? A thought might be to meet at the Amtrak station in between because it will be less crowded. There are 50 parking spaces for Amtrak passengers but I don’t know if they have a way to check.

I'm looking for parking at the monument first, there should be space there for drivers. You can see the monument from DC so metroers should be able to see it.

Hi Everyone - If you come early and need a cafe fix, there is a Starbucks across the King Street (North East), a June Coffee, and a Whole Foods (2-3 blocks south - Duke & Reinekers) all near King Metro. I would like for us all to be at the memorial before 1:15 so that we can purchase our tickets for the tour. Please revise your RSVP if your plans change. Looking forward to seeing you all on this beautiful Sunday. :)

If I don't see the group at King St station I'll go directly to the Masonic Temple. It looks like a beautiful day. :)

I'm looking forward to seeing the group again. Another option is to park at the Van Dorn station lot. It's a 7 minute ride to King Street station.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
