5Rhythms & Personal Growth Photography - How Did That Happen? 11/11/12

An art salon dedicated to this interesting process of artistry and self-growth, presented by: Jim Guzel, photographer, and Dr. Michelle Carnes, anthropologist and client.

In 2002, three years into my full-time career as a portrait photographer, I was introduced to 5Rhythms by then portrait client, Tiffiny Wolins. Tiffiny used the freedom and spontaneity provided by conscious dance to explore and express her personal journey while my camera recorded the event. I was amazed! Many things happened quickly, most important of which to me were two things: 1) I became an avid practitioner of 5Rhythms. And 2) 5Rhythms became integral to how I approached portraiture.

Ten years have passed and much water has flowed by. Recently, Dr. Michelle Carnes became my client and in the pursuit of her own personal exploration, her process paralleled the 5Rhythms Wave I know so well, all with no instruction in that direction by me and with no prior knowledge of 5Rhythms on the part of Michelle. Sharing their experiences publically has often been part of the assimilation process for my clients. The opportunity was there to make a very interesting presentation to all my friends interested in the arts and self-growth.

To that end, I invite you to attend an art salon on the evening of Sunday, November 11th, 2012, 5:00 – 9:00 PM in Silver Spring, MD. There is no charge for this event. We only asked that you register to attend and that you keep your attendance status accurate, space being somewhat limited. You can bring something to snack on, if you wish.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
