Welcome to the world of "THE DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT"
Documentary photography usually refers to a popular form of photography used to chronicle significant and historical events. It is typically covered in professional photojournalism, or real life reportage, but it may also be an amateur, artistic, or academic pursuit. The photographer attempts to produce truthful, objective, and usually candid photography of a particular subject, most often pictures of people.
"The Documentary Photography Project" believes in the power of images to advance social change. Through grants, exhibitions, seminars and social events, we support photography to engage and mobilize people around many issues of our planet too.
The guiding philosophy of the project is photography’s ability to record and personalize the effects of conflicts, document the struggles and defiance of people who are struggling for a better world and reframe public discourse. We fund projects that go beyond documentation and use photography as a mechanism to foster civic engagement, organizing, advocacy, outreach, public awareness, education, and media attention.
I hope to see you in our environment soon.
