10th Annual DORBA Spring Campout & Trail Ride will be at Solavaca Ranch again this year.
when: October 25th, 26th & 27th
location: Solavaca Ranch Mountain Bike Trail and Campgrounds: http://solavaca.com just a few miles northwest of Glen Rose Texas (see maps below
Don't forget to bring a pumpkin to Carve for the Annual Campout's Pumpkin Carvin' Contest!
Scariest, Funniest/Cutest, Best Bike-Related,
riding: two excellent trails to choose from: Dinosaur Valley State Park, and at Solavaca Ranch, one of my all time favorite trails.
Camping: Solavaca Ranch (see maps below) There 2 Porta-let toilets. The land owner, Mack, will provide a water hose by his barn, if you need water, but the only showers will be what you provide yourself. I use the 5 gallon Sun Showers sold at Sports Authority and Walmart. They work GREAT, just hang them up from a tree before your ride and they dispense hot water when you come back from it. Or, you can go get a hot shower about 4 miles down the road at Dinosaur Valley State Park.
cost: $12 per person for the weekend including 2 nights camping PER person, and up to 3 days of riding. Saturday arrivals pay only $8. If you come out to ride for the day, it will cost you $3 per day. This is Kids 12 and under are FREE. However the day use fee at Dinosaur Valley is not included if you ride there (if you don't have an annual pass).
We will have this primitive campsite all to ourselves.
Neither DORBA, nor me, is responsible for your safety, your happiness, your food, your health, or anything else. It is all up to you. I am just announcing a little get together for people who like to camp and mountain bike. There will be NO volunteers at this camp-out and trail ride. You must sign two liability waivers. One for DORBA and one for Solavaca Ranch.
Why?: I have been "organizing" the Bar H Campout & Trail Ride in the fall the past few years. Why? I want Dorba & FWMBA folk to be able to get together for a campout that needs no volunteer work... just riding and relaxing. So come on out and see this seldom seen part of the North Texas area.
Note: There will only be one communal fire to come together around each night. Of course you can have your own charcoal fires.
