This is a group for people passionate about helping support dog rescue groups in the Bay Area; the rescue Doggie Protective Services being our main focus. Our goals include helping to place dogs in foster homes, working our adoption events, and finding ways to educate the general public on the importance of spay and neuter. If you love dogs, have always been aware of the problems but didn't know how to help, join us and together we can make a difference! Rescue groups are always evolving, so we're continually looking for dedicated dog-lovers who are willing to spend some of their weekends helping us place dogs in their proper furever homes!
America is in the midst of a pet overpopulation crisis which results in the senseless death of millions of healthy, adoptable dogs and cats each year. Of the 6 to 8 million dogs and cats that enter America's shelters each year, 3 to 4 million are euthanized. Shelters struggle to accommodate the endless stream of dogs and cats that arrive daily at their door. Underfunded and overwhelmed, all too often they are left with no choice but to euthanize thousands of perfectly healthy and loving dogs and cats each day.
We intend to save as many abandoned, abused and neglected dogs as possible, provide them with a loving secure environment in which to rehabilitate their souls and rekindle their spirits, and then find them appropriate forever homes with owners who will love and cherish them for the remainder of their lives. Since our inception in 2001, we have saved hundreds of unwanted dogs, most of them facing euthanasia in overcrowded shelters in the Southern California communities of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
We're looking for volunteers who are willing to commit to helping at at least one adoption event per month. Volunteers must be available from 10-4 on Saturday or 10:30-4on Sunday.
Find our volunteer or foster application under the VOLUNTEER tab on our website, www.dpsrescue.com, then just fill it out and send it in!
Hope to see you at our next foster opportunity or adoption event!
