This was a perfect 10 -11 mile hike - not too steep or strenuous but definitely got our hearts pumping! And the views from the rolling hills above the tree line were spectacular. Wild flowers just starting to come in.... It was nice meeting everyone!

    Awesome hike today.

    Here's the trip report:

    5 hikers
    2 dogs
    11 miles
    1 good snow-climb
    great company
    exceptional views

Note: the rock ledge near the top is NOT dog-friendly (it is closer to head height than shoulder height)

the trails still have quite a bit of snow below tree-line however it is quite manageable without getting too wet.

Trailhead is approx. 7.8 miles N of Durango Mountain Resort (acc. to Google) on Rt. 550, parking lot on West side of road.
If you go to Coal Creek or Deer Creek trailheads you've gone to far.
Note: This hike to Jura Knob is as described in Southwest Colorado High Country Day Hikes, NOT as described in Hiking Trails of Southwestern Colorado (which has different starting points).

I'd like to come. Any tips on finding the trailhead? Is there a sign?

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
