SF/F Group

This sub-group focuses on Science Fiction and Fantasy, so if you have anything that falls under that category — be it short story, poem or novel-in-progress — then come! We'd love to hear from you.

Our format allows each reader 15 minutes to present their work... followed by approximately 20 minutes of feedback from the other attendees. To ensure a fair opportunity to respond, each attendee is limited to 1 minute of feedback time. (Using this structure, we are usually able to get through four readers in any given night.)

If a reader elects to post their work in advance (NOT a requirement!), members will be able to access that work under the "More" > "Files" section from the drop-down menu, above.

Readers are:

  • Sam
  • Courtney
  • Jacqueline

Backup Readers are:

  • David

Double-secret Backup:

I'm still at the office - very sorry but I'll have to miss this one :(

Yeah, I'm going to be missing this one, but getting this chapter done will feel good, and I've been burning the candle at both ends lately, so I'm a bit too weary for a drive home on sleet ridden I-40 tonight. I'm reading the posted readings, and will send comments to each of you who posted stories. Read, write, then eat, drink and be merry.

Hi Guys! I'm changing my RSVP as I have set myself a writing goal for the day, and you guys are the reward for getting it done. If I don't see you tonight, then I've not made it yet, but blast it! It shall be reached today if it kills me (grumblegrumble- first day off in a week to write... grumblegrumbe)!

Hi everybody. We'll be back at Atomic Empire for our next meeting. We plan to reserve a room in the back of the store. We won't need to take up a collection, but we do ask that everyone please buy something from their concession stand (the room is free if the group spends $50 or more). Please tell them you're with the SF/Fantasy writers group so they'll credit it to our group.

I have an interesting problem... For years I have written and based my story in the mythical world of Arendale... which would be good except it seems with Frozen Disney used a place called Arendelle to base their story... do I have to change my city? I fell in love with my own city... I don't know what I could change it to...

I'm inclined to agree. It's not a huge part of the Frozen story (as opposed to say, Storybrooke in Once Upon a Time) and it'll be a while before yours comes out.
