Our readers for this month will be:

September focus:  Discipline

Set a daily word-count for yourself, whether 50 words, 2,000 words, or something in between.  Take one day off a week.  Let's discuss at the September meeting.  We are looking for consistency.  Prizes to those who reach the 24-day goal.

Looking forward to another great night of discussing the act and art of writing and critiquing the always fascinating works-in-progress shared with the group.

See you in September.

Jonathan

Really enjoyed the meetup. Woke up this morning thinking about writing and actually did some. Thanks to all!

Great to hear. I love that feeling! Look forward to hearing your piece, perhaps, at one of our upcoming meetings. In the meanwhile, continue to come! It was great having you there.

I'm sorry, I have to cancel because we are having a series of lectures at my synagogue and they start that evening. I'll be back, though. :-)

I have been writing for decades and am so excited to have my first two novels published this year. I write historical fiction and outdoor adventures, and so far it is anchored in the period of my life that I was a fishing guide and worked with Ojibway Indians in Canada. I look forward to meeting folks. My author site is carlnordgren.com

Thank you to everyone for your comments regarding my not-actually-a-mystery novel. You have given me a lot to think about.

Barbara, what fun! Thank you for reading your story and do share another draft of it with us in the near future! It would be great to see how it evolves.

Thanks, Susan. I look forward to your reading on Oct 8. Do focus on an "ongoing" piece, versus as completed one - I failed to mention that at Wednesday's meeting -- as the idea of our group is to critique drafts and provide (hopefully helpful) input! Thanks again for joining us! I was great meeting you!

Meeting was great but the music in the background was too loud. Asked for it to be turned down but it wasn't.

Are the pieces read at the meeting or do we read them ahead of time? Thanks!

Looked foe "more" but can't find it...

    • Jonathan G.

Hi Paulette, in the subheadings just below the "Durham Writers Group" title look for "More" On the drop down menu, click on "Files." Unless a writer posts his or her work there, you won't see it. Others who have posted their works are fun to read too!
