SF/F Group

This sub-group focuses on Science Fiction and Fantasy, so if you have anything that falls under that category — be it short story, poem or novel-in-progress — then come! We'd love to hear from you.

Our format allows each reader 15 minutes to present their work... followed by approximately 20 minutes of feedback from the other attendees. To ensure a fair opportunity to respond, each attendee is limited to 1 minute of feedback time. (Using this structure, we are usually able to get through four readers in any given night.)

If a reader elects to post their work in advance (NOT a requirement!), members will be able to access that work under the "More" > "Files" section from the drop-down menu, above.

Readers are:

  • Rob
  • Hampton
  • Elizabeth
  • David

Backup Readers are:

  • Courtney
  • Ada
  • Sam (of the Mannish clan)
  • Liz

It's official, 'the cold' has got a hold of me. I feel like crap... won't make it. Lousy weather changes, and multiple kids in day care, and swinger parties...

Hi everyone, I'm sorry that I won't be able to make tonight due to shifts in work deadlines and child coverage arrangements (a.k.a "the perfect storm"!). Also, a much belated thank you for all of the terrific feedback that and follow-up emails that you shared with me regarding the piece I read last time. Looking forward to reading more of your work and to sharing more of my own with you soon as well!

Hey everyone, I just noticed that Eric Maier, overall organizer of The Durham Writers Meetup Group, plans to attend this week. Whatever you do, don't tell him about the virgin sacrifices or the goat's blood, okay? Okay.

And remember, "church music" is the code phrase when we talk about our porn work, "gospel music" is when we talk about gay porn.

    Hi all,
I'm just a lil old backup next week, but I've posted the next chapter (some of the material is stuff you've heard before, asince I rearranged some scenes per your suggestions), and chapter 4a (the first semi-chapter/interlude) of the Walls of Jericho.
    See you all then!

hey everyone! I've attended all of one meeting, but I am in the progress of setting rides up so I can attend more. I will not be able to print files, my printer is a nightmare and after a week of fighting with it, I let it win. So, hopefully there will be a new one soon, but till then my hands are tied. Even so, I look forward to meeting you and who you write for. See you soon!
