Brownbag Wednesdays

For anyone interested in learning more about DaVinci Coders, here's how:

This week's speaker will be Dr. Richard Hackathorn, President, Bolder Technology, Inc.

Topic: Is Big Data a Big Pain?

Yes! …if you have unrealistic expectations about its business value and technical requirements.

Recently I interviewed three companies deeply involved with big data.

Using these examples, we will discuss:

  • What is big data?
  • Why is it such a hot topic?
  • Why we cannot ignore it?
  • What you need to know?  ...especially as Da Vinci Coders

Dr. Richard Hackathorn is a well-known industry analyst, technology innovator, and international educator. In Boulder 1982, he founded MicroDecisionware Inc. (MDI), an early vendor of database connectivity products that was acquired by Sybase and then by SAP. He has written three books: Enterprise Database Connectivity, Using the Data Warehouse (with William H. Inmon), and Web Farming for the Data Warehouse. Richard taught at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and at the University of Colorado. He graduated from California Institute of Technology and University of California, Irvine

Big Data was an interesting discussion. However, it's more in-depth than we could cover in the brownbag.
