Brownbag Wednesdays

Open to the Public. For anyone interested in learning more about DaVinci Coders, here's how:

This week's speaker will be Marcus Jeffery, owner of Denver Web Success, a local web design, development, and marketing company. Marcus will be speaking about “How Search Engines Work," which explains (in broad terms) the algorithms that search engines use to determine how to rank web pages. Using this knowledge, he will then explain a process for building a successful website.

  • “How Search Engines Work” – This will cover the 200+ ranking factors assessed by search engines, including on-page SEO, on-site SEO, and off-site SEM (Search Engine Marketing). This education not only helps you to understand what search engines look for, but why.
  • “Do You Need A Website?” – It is not necessarily the case that everybody should build a marketable website. Learn how to assess the online market demand and the strength of your competitors to determine the most profitable way to succeed.
  • “How To Build A Successful Website” – Once you understand how a search engine works, the knowledge can be applied to a process for building a successful website. This process will always work.

Marcus Jeffrey's computing career spans 30 years. Following his BSc in Computer Studies at the University of East Anglia, England, he has worked in a number of computer-related fields. After University he spent a couple of years as a programmer for Logica, a large world-wide software company. Following this, Marcus worked as a computer journalist and editor for a number of UK magazines, and wrote a book called “Getting the Best from Clipper” (Sigma Press, 1991). He then spent a decade as owner of Target Systems Ltd, which specialized in helping companies manage their computer networks. In 2000, he was approached by Pythagoras Communications Ltd to sell and promote the SalesLogix Customer Relationship Management system, which he did extremely successfully for five years before leaving to live in the USA.

Marcus built his first website back in 1994. Along with other jobs, he has worked on websites ever since this time. Operating as Denver Web Success, he now helps local companies be successful online, rather than simply producing pretty, but ineffective websites. This includes guiding clients through the complexities of SEO, online marketing, social media, conversion analytics, search engine monitoring, and much more.
