John Gruenwald founded Ihire Associates in 2006. His focus is managing the strategic direction of Ihire Associates, which includes focus on new technologies and open-source web development (Ruby/Rails), Apple’s iOS (iPhone & iPad) and Google’s Android (smartphone and tablet) mobile development. Ihire Associates relocated its headquarters from San Diego, CA to Denver, CO in January of 2008.
Since the mid-1990’s, John has managed a full-cycle recruitment desk with a focus on recruiting senior level developers, engineering leadership and other technical professionals (Product Management, UI/UX Mobility Designers) directly related to software development.
Prior to Ihire Associates John worked for several start-up and early stage software companies in California. Prior companies include Digital Medical Register, CBS StoreRunner.com, Connetics Communications, Prisa Networks and EMC Corporation. John has held positions in human resources management (HR senior generalist, HR operations, HR lead), corporate recruitment, technical staffing, recruitment process consulting and leading a professional technical search firm.
John has 15 years experience in and around software, IT, new technologies, storage management software, contingent search, recruitment, employee selection, start-up software companies and human resources management. Gruenwald is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin and holds a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Human Resources Management and Small Business Management. In addition to his bachelors’ degree, John earned a technical degree in Digital Electronics from Milwaukee Tech.
He is a professional that truly understands both sides of the recruitment process and is an expert in contingent search, direct-hire, Internet sourcing, employee selection and human resources management. John is an active member and services on the Board of Directors for The Rocky Mountain Association of Recruiters (RMAR).
