Rehoming Pets

Yes, I'm back on my soapbox. This is a good example of why people should think twice before posting their pets on the internet when looking to rehome them. Rescues are a much better option.

*EMERGENCY MEDICAL CASE* Cooper is a two year old male husky. He was given away by his person a year ago to someone on the Internet. That person gave him to someone else and this weekend he was found starving and dehydrated in Missouri. The pound said he was in too rough of shape and they were going to euthanize him because they couldn't afford the time or money to make him well.

His first owner was contacted and went to get him tonight to save his life but could not keep him so called HUA. We agreed to take him and try to make him well and find him a good home. An HUA director just met his former owner at the emergency clinic to get him help tonight. He is so ill that he cannot even keep down water. He won't eat and his stomach is completely empty. The emergency vet said he is severely emaciated - can feel every rib. He was hooked up to IV's immediately and testing will continue tomorrow to determine why he cannot eat or even keep water down.

Please send good thoughts to Cooper. He has had a very rough time and we are hoping he can pull through. He is young, beautiful and friendly. We hope that it isn't too late and that he can heal and find a good home.

If you'd like to make an emergency donation toward Cooper's care, you can do so online at www.hua.org. In the comments, put "For Cooper" - or you can make a $10 donation by texting the word GIFT to 20222. Standard text messaging rates apply. We thank you for your continued support.
