Re: [dachshund-427] Maybe off topic/maybe not

I am getting into this conversation very late, so maybe
this has already been suggested. Last year, I had some
chickens, and thus had raccoons big time. We set out a
couple of live traps, but raccoons are crafty and could
take out most bait without setting off the traps. In late
spring, we began to capture them, and eventually caught
10, which my son took to a local park and released. I have
no idea if that is legal or not, but at least we did not
kill them.I have heard that the distance is about 5 miles,
so they don't return. I also have no idea if that is true,
as you can't really tell if you are catching the same
ones. I think the older ones are the ones that escaped,
and when the younger ones got big enough, that is what we
were catching. Marshmallows were their favorite treat, and
I have also heard that honey attracts them.

Have you thought about contacting the DNR to see what is
legal about raccoons? I am sure they would not come get
them for you, but you might ask them.

Where is the Turtle man when you need him?
