Oh I should have thought of the anal glands. That happened to Henry about a month ago. One trip to the vet and yowsa... all gone and happy tail.

This happened to Soda when her anal gland became impacted.... You might check that.  It took two vets to figure it out, the first one thought her back was giving out.  The second did her anal gland put her on an RX for a couple of days and she was good to go!

When I had Labrador Retrievers I remember hearing about cold tails. I think it had to do with minimal nerve damage when it was really cold and the tails would just go limp. If anyone has seen a Labrador with a limp tail you know it's a very sad thing! It hasn't been that cold tho.

I've also had lottsa dogs of varying breeds that would to a "butt-tuck." Which to me means they tuck their tails close, pull hind-quarters close to their bellies... and just run like a crazy dog like a 2yo on speed for 30s or so. It's an absolute riot to watch.

Definitely need more input...
