My 7 year old boy, Hank, was acting weird, not wanting to move much and shaking as if he was really cold a lot of the day so I took him to the vet. The vet also did the turning the paw on the knuckle test to make sure he turned it back, testing propriorecption in his back legs. He also prescribed prednisone (in a pill though) and tramadol, a pain pill and two weeks of no stairs or jumping. Hank has been on the tapering prednisone for 1 week, but even after the first day he seemed to be much less in pain and happier. On his follow up, the vet said he's progressing well and shouldnt need the pain pill anymore. It made me nervous too putting him on such strong drugs. Maybe youre girl is having a bad reaction to it or maybe the initial dose is too strong? I also looked up a holistic vet, five elements, that does accupuncture and chiropractic for back problems (didnt know if that is already where youre going). But their philosophy is staying away from harsh strong drugs. I hope your pup starts feeling better!
Just wanted to run this by everyone, My girl appears to have a back issue, first diagnosed with a bladder infection, symptoms progressed as her little paw won't turn a 'certain way' now so doctor is sure she has back issues. She was acting weird but not really crying out in pain, now after him giving her a shot of pregnisone a strong steroid, and a pain pill she won't move much and has no reactions just lays in her kennel, doesn't even want to eat unless I hand feed her. She went from walking around to this.
Please any suggestions? She also gets laser treatments. I'm going to go get acupuncture tomorrow also; I just feel like I shouldn't be letting the vet give her the strong steroids???????? I take her back to him this afternoon for more steroids.
Please anyone know anything to help me? Prayers also please;
