Meet-up THIS Sat, 4/12, 12-2 at Good Karma (Current fosters & Terrier Games)

From: Cheri C.
Sent on: Tuesday, April 8, 2014 12:23 PM

Good Morning! Looks like we're going to have another beautiful day!  Just a reminder that THIS Sat (4/12) is our "April Showers Bring Wieners in Your Flowers" Meet-up!

Beanie loves to help in the garden!

Here's the scoop:

The fence was supposed to keep Daisy OUT of the flowers!

  • Sat, April 12
  • 12 pm-2 pm
  • Good Karma Dog Center
  • 8511 Frederick St (just south of Shopko on 84th)
  • $5 per family donation goes to pay for rental of indoor facility anything left over helps needy rescue dogs.
  • Our last indoor meet-up of the season!

Yep, that fence didn't help much against Georgie when he was a puppy, either!

Although I know we all can't wait to get outside to play, April in Nebraska has proven to be too unpredictable to plan an outdoor meet-up.  We had 2 or 3 Aprils in a row where we had rain and/or cold (2 yrs ago it was a downpour thunderstorm shortly after we arrived at the  dog park!) and the dog park is often muddy this time of year.  :(

So we will go inside to Good Karma Dog Center one more time this year, and enjoy Barbara's wonderful hospitality!  (Plus you can ask her for any training advice one last time before we head out to the dog parks this summer!)

All that said, it will probably end up being a gorgeous day outside on Saturday just to spite me!  Grrrr.....

We'll still have fun playing with the wieners, and they will still be exhausted at the end of the day!

I realized I hadn't done a foster line up for a little while!  We still have some lovely dachshunds looking for their forever homes!!!  Some will be at the meet-up so you can meet them face to face!

Bob Wire--Wag N Train Terrier Rescue

Bobby is an incredibly sweet 2 yr old red wirehair dachshund still looking for his forever home. He's still a little shy from his days in the mill, but he is starting to show a fun side as he gains more confidence in his foster home.  He likes to cuddle, play chase with his foster siblings, and he LOVES toys!  He gets along well with cats and other dogs.  Just look at those beautiful big brown eyes....

Jasper--Wag N Train Terrier Rescue

Jasper went to a home for a little while, but a severe allergy brought him back into rescue amid a sea of tears from the family that had adopted him.  They were absolutely heartbroken to have to give up this sweet little guy!  He's also still a little shy from his first 5 years spent in the puppy mill, but he has found that he really enjoys spending time with people, and will practically melt into your lap. He's got the softest coat and loves to cuddle.  He gets along with well-behaved children, cats, and dogs of all breeds and sizes, ranging from Dachshund to Great Dane.  He will steal your heart!

Sammi Jo--Promise 4 Paws

Sammi Jo is still looking for a nice quiet home to retire in.  She's only 10 years old, but she likes a nice calm house since she's a quiet, mellow girl.  She is the ready made pet!  Potty trained, kennel trained, good house manners, well behaved, quiet, and just a good girl all around.  She loves to snuggle and hang out with her foster sisters. She gets along with other small dogs and cats.  She has limited vision, so has to be careful around steps, but has no problem getting around the house (esp when she knows food is involved!)  She is a sweetheart that would keep your lap warm and your heart full of love....

Jinga--Hands, Hearts and Paws

Jinga is a curious, bright, handsome, loving, cuddly, sweet, wonderful black and tan dapple boy.  He enjoys playing with toys, exploring the house and yard, sunbathing outside, and snuggling with whoever has an open lap.  Oh, and Jinga is blind.  But it doesn't bother him any, so he doesn't think it should bother you.  Jinga gets around just fine using his other senses, but will need to be careful around steps (either no steps or having them blocked off so he doesn't fall down them is best.)  He gets along well with older kids, cats and dogs of all different sizes.  He's quite the catch!

Lyric--Hands, Hearts and Paws

Fun chiweenie pup Lyric is still looking for her perfect home!  Although she has a fun playful side, like every young dog, she also has a certain mellowness to her that not many young dogs have.  She loves to curl up in your lap for a nap, sun herself out in the yard, or just chill out on the couch like the good girl she is.  She gets along with well behaved children and other dogs of all sizes, ranging from Dachshund to Great Dane.  But she especially loves the Danes!  We think she wants to be one when she grows up!  ;)

Star is a fun, energetic girl that LOVES LOVES LOVES toys!   She's a loving, happy, cheerful girl always ready to brighten your day!  And did I mention, she loves toys?  She also enjoys cuddling in laps, and playing with her foster siblings. She gets along with all humans, young and old, and other dogs. If you need a little ray of light in your life, Star is your girl!

***Honorary Dachshund of the month....

Juliet--Hands, Hearts and Paws

Molly, who is fostering Lyric, also fosters Juliet.  She's a gorgeous smaller sized black lab with beautiful big brown eyes.  She starts out very shy, but then her happy, cheerful, playful personality comes shining out.  She's just a really sweet girl.  She was recently diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis on her left side.  It basically means that the left side of her airway doesn't open and close like the right side when she breathes, and she will have to be on meds for the rest of her life.  Her activity will have to be monitored so she doesn't get too overworked and out of breath.  She is looking for a special home that is willing to take good care of her for the rest of her life.  If you know anyone that might be interested in this sweet beauty, please pass her info on!

Kathy Anderson, I haven't heard from you in a while and was wondering if you still had your foster girl?  Let us know how she is coming along!

Rick and Pam, do you still have the 2 boys you brought to meet-up a few months back?  Let us know about them if you do!  They were mighty cute fellas!

Make sure your calendars are marked!!!

~Cheri and the gang

PS  Dusty REALLY wanted to tell you all to come to the meet-up to play on Saturday.  I was in the other room when I heard a crash.  I assumed it was Georgie, but instead found Dusty in the office, just like this....  He's got that "I didn't do it" face on!  He told me he just wanted to email everyone about the please don't disappoint him!
